Filing Confirmation Statement for Ltd

Filing confirmation statement online

Filing your tax return isn’t the only thing you will have to file if you own a limited company. Every company, including dormant and non-trading companies, must file a confirmation statement online.

It confirms the information Companies House holds about your company is up to date and must be delivered within 14 days of your confirmation statement due date.

Register for Companies House WebFiling
Before you can file your confirmation statement electronically, you will need to register for the Companies House WebFiling. To do this you will need your password and authentication code. There is also a useful video to watch.

Before filing your confirmation statement, you should check your company’s details. You must update your records if any information is incorrect or out of date. You must file a confirmation statement even if there have not been any changes to your company during the review period. This confirms that your records are up to date and that the information we hold is correct.

There is an annual fee per payment period:
  • £13 to file your confirmation statement online
  • £40 to send a paper form

The payment period is every 12 months; you only have to pay the annual fee with your first confirmation statement in the 12-month payment period. You can then file as many confirmation statements as you want within this payment period.

Filing your confirmation statement
Once you’ve signed into your account, select “File confirmation statement” on your company overview screen.

If there are any changes to your information held by Companies House, you must file these before submitting your confirmation statement.

Filling in the form will only take about 5 minutes. Check all the details displayed on the form are correct and move onto the payment screen. Before you select your payment method, make a note of your submission number in case you have a query. Your filing will be registered, when the payment is made.

Once you’ve paid, the HRMC payment provider will send you an email confirming payment and send your details to Companies House. You will get a further two emails; one letting you know your information has been received and a second to say if it has been accepted or rejected. Keep these emails safe, in case you need to query anything.

You can check your confirmation statement information has been updated on your page, when you receive the second email of acceptance.
